Here are some recommendations to help you prepare effectively for your PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) and Instructor Examination (IE):

### Prerequisites:

- Be certified as a PADI Assistant Instructor, PADI Divemaster, or as an instructor with another recreational dive organization.

- Be at least 18 years old.

- Submit a medical form signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

- Be a certified diver for at least six months.

- Have logged at least 60 open water dives, including night, deep, and navigation dives, before the IDC.

- Have logged at least 100 dives before the IE.

- Provide proof of CPR & First Aid training within the last 24 months.

- Be mentally prepared for transformative experiences.

### Documentation:

1. Diving Certification Cards: Bring your most recent PADI certification card and either a list of all your certifications with dates or all your physical cards.

2. Non-PADI Certifications: Photocopies of certification cards for non-PADI certifications to be sent to PADI post-IE.

3. Logbook: Proof of 60 logged dives for IDC and 100 for IE.

4. PADI Materials: Essential manuals and materials (Instructor manual, Guide to Teaching, cue cards, lesson preparation slates, RDP table, etc.).

5. Material Acquisition: Arrange to obtain required materials from your Course Director before arriving at your IDC location.

### Dive Knowledge Preparation:

- Review all course manuals, quizzes, exams, and knowledge reviews for Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue, and Divemaster courses.

- Ensure strong understanding of dive theory (physics, physiology, etc.) before the IDC. Practice explaining concepts to new divers.

### Additional Tips:

- Participate in classes with qualified Scuba Instructors to observe and learn teaching techniques.

- Ensure all your diving equipment is in good working condition. Practice using your BCD and weights, and familiarize yourself with your gear.

- Watch PADI videos to reinforce skills and techniques.

- Practice your diving skills in a pool to demonstration quality, focusing on buoyancy control like fin pivots and hovering.

- Learn and practice tying knots (Bowline, Sheet Bend, Two half hitches) as part of the IE.

With diligent preparation and a positive mindset, you'll be ready for a successful and enjoyable IDC and IE. Dive into it and make waves! 🌊
